Day Ten: Monday

• Woke up at 8 because I had to meet my "oral partner" to practice our conversation for our oral exam which is on Wednesday
• Waited an unexpected 25 minutes for a bus that was DLY
• They should put MIA instead
• The bus was really slow, lots of people got tricked into standing up because this one girl was standing up even though there were seats which I tried to look pointedly at to little or no avail
• By the time I actually got to Arts 1 my partner was not there anymore and I felt really bad/still feel really bad/our only method of communication is email
• Spent a whole lot of time doing my Russian assignment which I'm pretty sure isn't supposed to take around 5 hours a week to do
• Also my iPod was almost flat so I tried to listen to music via YouTube in the Information Commons while I Googled things like "The cosmonaut is calling from the cosmos" and "That trolleybus is from Moscow".
• It was raining a lot but in a gross way
• People on IC0 were making out with each other all over the computers
• Went to a weird mystery area of the university, above the quad, there were booths and arcade machines? Ate some horrible chicken nuggets
• Went back to IC0, streamed albums from the Lil Chief website, let Poppy use my computer to print out something, said thank you to her when it didn't make sense because I wanted to sound polite or friendly or something
• Kept forgetting I had a new haircut/hair colour. Not that anyone said anything about it.
• A thing happened where Vince wanted to buy an enchilada but he'd lost his Eftpos card and the woman at the bus ticket desk had it and then he wanted to buy a McDouble but he'd lost his Eftpos card and the woman at the McDonald's counter had it.
• The cleaner I don't like at McDonald's touched his arm and cleaned our table three times while we were eating
• I went to the library because sometimes I'm happy in the library as long as I can get a desk facing north next to a window but I needed to use the computer because I'm so bad at conjugating in Russian and I had to sit between these two guys, one blasting the soundtrack of Dream Girls from his headphones and getting really loud texts and one doing what I thought was a laugh but turned out to be an exaggerated sniff
• Also at some point I exploded a bottle of Sprite all over my dress in the library basement outside 100 people waiting for a law lecture
• I met Ryan in the dark in the science building basement lab
• We went to Burger King and I brought up the we were 16 there and he loved ACT after we got a brochure promoting Rodney Hyde and he was embarrassed
• We didn't get any Burger King and I had this thing you can now get at Sky City Metro which is basically a piece of chicken on a plate with chips around it and it's $4.50
• I ate most of the chicken with a knife and fork but it was a thigh so I had to pick at it a little bit and we talked about how when you don't know someone that well and you have to eat extra politely and he said the first time he went to his new girlfriend's house they were eating kebabs on rice but she didn't feel like getting a fork so she put her whole face into the plate of rice and ate it like that
• We talked about who we would vote for in the AUSA by-election on the train.
• Ryan recognised one of the nominees from the national secondary schools chess tournament in 2009
• He is now openly asexual and running for Queer Rights Officer
• Ryan didn't know what that meant and thought that he was a plant that reproduces with itself
• Then we noticed that Ryan's dad was sitting about two metres away from us
• We went and talked to him about how many liberal or protest articles the Craccum had (one million) and when your marks don't get scaled up because your class is too good at everything
• Ryan's stepmother was waiting at the train station with an umbrella for his dad
• As soon as they said goodbye to me and went in their house there was a crazy downpour and I didn't like walking in the rain as I usually do, I really like walking around in the rain in the middle of the night (except at Camp).
• I was really excited for Gerald and Libby reappearing on Shortland Street this week.
• Joe was really excited for the hot lesbians storyline but I could tell he was in a bad mood because he kept correcting me when I wasn't wrong or having weird reactions to what I said and then got angry about the idea of art school and did that thing where he hates my friends for being too hip and makes me feel really awkward.
• I felt really terrible because the university is so much tests and assignments right now and I didn't have any close personal friends to talk to about it so I texted Isabelle and she texted me back a crazy panicky text about assignments and tests
• I put my foot on my head and that made me feel slightly better
